We invited one of our members, Fiona Ross, to lead a workshop for the group on
18th March. Fiona chose the theme of “Page Turning Quality In Fiction”.
She began with a PowerPoint presentation, followed by examples and exercises.
The workshop focused on a variety of techniques to create tension in a scene, to create mystery and unanswered questions designed to keep the reader engaged with the story.
Fourteen members attended and the session was generally well received.
Paignton Writers’ Circle would like to thank Fiona for preparing and presenting the workshop.
The winners of the Christmas Competition 2012 are as follows:

During 2011 we took part in the ‘Imagine There’s A Future’ creative writing project, which was run by Clare George, Writer-in-Residence at University of Exeter, and funded by Arts Council England. Clare kindly held a workshop for us here in Torbay, and has included Paignton Writers’ Circle in her acknowledgements at the beginning of the publication for the winning entries in the subsequent competition.
Contact us if you would like to read a copy of the publication.
