Welcome to Paignton Writers’ Circle. We are a group of writers, living in Torbay and the surrounding area, and have been established for more than twenty years.
We run a programme mainly of manuscript readings, with occasional workshops by outside speakers and discussions led by members. We also hold competitions, usually open only to members.
We are a varied bunch, from a variety of backgrounds, and a wide age range. Some of us are actively looking for publication, some are independently-published. Others write for magazines or competitions, but mostly purely for private pleasure. At the moment the main emphasis is on prose fiction, poetry – including performance poetry – and memoirs.
We meet fortnightly on Mondays from 2pm to 4pm at Churston Golf Club, for a relaxed afternoon where we can share our work. We set a schedule of topics (please see the menu bar for the latest timetable), but there is no pressure to keep to this, and members can invite feedback and constructive criticism.
New members are very welcome, and are invited to come along to a meeting to find out more about us before joining. Let us know if you’re interested. Not sure how to find us, or when? Take a look at the Schedule, which is accessible from the menu. :-)
