Our Christmas Meeting, 2019, with Prizegiving

For the first time, we had a Christmas meeting without a 2- or 3-course meal. In fact, it was more like ten. Or twelve!

Instead of a sit-down meal, we had decided to bring Chrstimassy foody bits in and have a buffet. This fitted nicely with our move from Churston Golf Club (which had a restaurant) to our meeting room at Paignton Library (which doesn’t). Our move to the Library has led us to ‘ring the changes’ a bit, which can be a good thing!

It worked out well, with those present saying they felt it was a more relaxed atmosphere – much easier to chat to everyone! Lucy Lepchani, our judge for this year’s Christmas competition, also enjoyed it – glad to have you with us again, Lucy!

After we’d eaten our fill (or more than!) the winners of the various competitions were announced, with Ken taking one trophy, and Julie taking the other two! We even have a photo to prove it….

We were then treated to hearing their winning entries – and those who were runners-up or honourably-mentioned – which rounded off an excellent afternoon.

Our next meeting will be in the new year – 6 January, 2020 – when we hope to hear more stories and poems of the high standard we’ve come to expect, and have more writerly chat and general friendly interaction.

See you then!
